Jan 28th 2018 | Japanese Delicacies!

This explains what was in the January 28th candy shipment, which should arrive around the world mid-February. The items in the box are: Strawberry Chocolate Gummies, Okinawa Chinsuko, and Silky Sweet Potato Crisps.

Strawberry Chocolate Gummies

Strawberries are super expensive in Japan. It's not like in the West where you can just find them all year long. When you do find them out of season, they're even more expensive. These gummies are a great fix for when you need a summer taste.

Okinawa Chinsuko

Real talk, these are my favorite things to come out of Japan. No matter what brand or flavor, I absolutely love them. Chinsuko are simply shortbread cookies made famous in Okinawa. I always stock up whenever I make the trip. The closest thing I can personally compare them to is really good pie crust. The flavors included in this package are plain, black sugar, and sweet potato.

Calbee Silky Sweet Potato Crisps

These savory sweet potato crisps will melt right in your mouth. Like all good Japanese sweet potatos, they are a grand mix of sweet and salty, exploding in flavor with every bite. It's almost too hard to put the bag down.

The photos of candy you've seen above are from my new office near Shinagawa, Tokyo. I'm working as a Tech Writer for a large company, so I'm very excited. I've also been very busy.

Visited the Kyoto Railway Museum. They had a mock old train station with a period-accurate candy shop in it.
