Monthly candy box: Want to try some Japanese candies?

Hello,

After living in Japan as an expat for a while, I noticed that there are many fun sweets here not available anywhere else. Inspired by this I started a service which sends Japanese candy for you to try on a recurring basis. If you join up, I'll periodically send you new Japanese candies to try, directly from Japan.

Strange tastes

Japanese candy is interesting, because there are many flavors here that might not be available in your country. Just some examples of interesting tastes include Japanese salt plum candies, roasted soybean flour candies, sweets that contain rose extract (and taste flowery too!), snacks including spicy wasabi, brown sugar snacks...

Best of all, Japanese people also love to try new candies, so new sweets are released all the time. That means there will always be new candy for you to try.

Fun concepts

DIY candy kits challenge you to go through a handful of easy steps to put together a fun end result. For example, one kit has you start up your own sushi shop - only its made out of candy. Another one has you making a hamburger or a pizza out of candy. Sometimes you mix some magic ingredients with water to create jelly, foam or strange wiggly shapes.

Besides candy kits, there are other concepts as well. One candy challenges you to play rock-paper-scissors against it, another predicts your future. Other ones have the package shaped like a camera, or have you dip a lollipop into sprinkles. Whenever there is a concept that isn't obvious, we'll also send you an explanation by e-mail.

Anime and character candies

Since this is Japan, expect a lot of anime- and character candies! Ones often featured are Ultraman, Super Mario, Anpanman, Gudetama candies featuring a lazy egg character, Yokai Watch and Pretty Cure. Pokemon candies too of course!

Delicious chocolates

During winter months expect your box to often include Japanese chocolates. While we'll send you some more common ones to try as well, expect some oddities too. For example chocolate where you can go digging for buried gummy treasures, or chocolate covered potato chips. Occasionally the boxes include limited Japanese kit-kats as well (we've sent green tea and wasabi kit-kats so far, and plan to send more).

To check the price and start getting candy boxes sent to you, start by going to the Candy Japan homepage and entering your e-mail address. You will then get a confirmation email that you need to click on to continue. After you have done this, you can enter your address and payment details. Credit cards and PayPal are accepted.

Although the main page is in English, we can ship to almost anywhere in the world. The prices are displayed in dollars, but you can still pay even if your credit card or PayPal is in another currency. Since we have subscribers from all over the world, the explanation emails are in English only. You can see our previous explanations here.

If anything is unclear, feel free to contact me in English at bemmu@candyjapan.com. I hope you'll decide to join! :)
